Join your TSM coaching staff for up to 10 technique-intensive workouts during the next two weeks! Use these opportunities to make those much-needed adjustments about which your coach is constantly nagging you. These clinic sessions will emphasize form and efficiency over speed, so take the time to "slow it down so you can speed it up!"

Senior Development @ CCP (Coach Monique)
Oh crud...fun week is over. The next two weeks will be stroke clinics, if you are not vacationing, we will expect to see you there. This is great time of year to concentrate on the basics without having the pressure of yardage and times. Please make every effort to pay attention to the coaching and instruction given to you and do your best to apply it. Changes into good habits don't happen over night, so take it on and make the adjustments.
We need to build on that 6th place finish gang, and the only way to do that is to become technically SOUND.
See you this week.
Senior Development @ SMSC (Coach Chris)
For the next two weeks, TSM will be doing our “summer clinics”. This means that the only emphasis for the next two weeks will be on technique, technique and more technique. I challenge all swimmers to use these next two weeks to make a dramatic change in their strokes. Swimmers should use this time, when the workload is low, to consciously change old, ineffective muscle memory. Lets make a change now, so as the workload increases, the “new memory” will be set.
Swimmers should be on their best behavior, listen to the coaches, and set a good example for the younger swimmers.
I look forward to seeing you all in the pool.
Take care,
Coach Chris
Remember…bring a water bottle to practice, every day!! This is mandatory!
Reminders:
·Keep your coach up-to-date on your personal Schedules. You may text or email.
·Stay Hydrated!
·Eat well.
·Stretch any/every chance you get!
Go Sr. Development!
Go TSM!!!
Blue I & II @ CCP (Coach Ryan)
Please keep Coach Ryan in your thoughts as he is currently grieving with family members over the loss of a relative.Ryan will resume his weekly coach message when he returns next week.Thank you for your support and concern during his family's time of need.
Blue @ SMSC (Coach Matt)
Hello BLUE!
Well, this was a very successful LC season for TSM! The BLUE group, those swimmers who have ended the 2010 LC season in the BLUE group, have swum great this season.
We had 2 new JO swimmers: Louis Peng and Katherine Gipson. Congrats!
We had 255 new best times established as a group. Awesome!
We had 3 SCSRT times earned: Gillian Caverly in the 200FR, 50 & 100BR. Great job!
Our team finish at JOs was 6th place.
It is all due to the hard work that you swimmers put in everyday you make it to the pool. Great things to build upon moving forward.
These next few weeks, TSM will be running stroke clinic-type practices, where everyone will be able to work on their technique and skill sets. Watch your emails for the schedules and such.
If you are going on vacation, enjoy!
Thanks,
Coach Matt
Red & Pre-Competitive @ CCP (Coach Mary)
Hey TSM,
This week is Stroke Clinic for everyone except Pre-Comp. Please report to SMC at 3:45 if you will be attending. Pre-Comp at Culver will observe regular schedule. Let's focus on improving our stroke technique while we have the opportunity. Please come to clinic ready to work hard:) GO TSM!!!
Coach Mary
Red @ SMSC (Coach Chris)
For the next two weeks, TSM will be doing our “summer clinics”. So…What are clinics? They are designed as stroke clinics, where we will concentrate solely on technique. Every day will bring a new stroke or skill. We want to use this time to improve our strokes, before the new season begins. Also, during this time, the Red Group will have an opportunity to work with different coaches and swim along side the older groups!
In addition, for the next two weeks, Red Group swimmers have a choice: they can stay with their regular practice schedule of 3:45-5:00pm or they can stay in until 5:30pm. (If swimmers are new to Red, 5:00 should be sufficient.)
I look forward to seeing everyone at practice.
See you in the competition pool!
Coach Chris
Reminders:
·ALL RED SWIMMERS SHOULD HAVE FINS. BRING YOUR FINS TO PRACTICE, EVERY DAY!!
·Swimmers who get to practice before 4:00pm are instructed to come upstairs and stretch with the rest of the Team!
This is the last week of the session. Please be sure to let me know whether or not your swimmer will be continuing. The next session is a kicking technique session, August 16-September 10. The swimmers have mad such great progress throughout the stroke tech session, so be sure to give your swimmers a proud pat on the back.
A COACHES SPECIAL REQUEST: It is beneficial to our swimmers to peer into the stands and to see someone from their support group. I am not asking for every supporter to show up at every practice. I am asking that every now and then parents and other family members attend a practice. It has such a positive affect on a child to see a familiar face in the stands observing them. Plus, you will be able to see the wonderful improvements that they have made. Please do not feel pressured by my request, it is simply that- just a small request.
HIKE- Our last group hike was such a great success that I have decided to make it a monthly adventure for our families. The hikes are tentatively scheduled for the 3rd Sunday of each month. However, I am out of town this weekend so we will have to postpone our August hike to next Sunday.
****Group Hike- SUNDAY AUGUST 22. If anyone has any suggestions of a good trail, please let me know. I will be taking suggestions through Friday, then I will announce what has been decided. Please suggest trails that are fit for all levels of hikers, this is a family event and I do know that we have quite a few youngsters hiking with us.
